As a part of Fire Prevention Week, the Lucas VFD visited Grace Evangelical School to help educate pre-school children in fire safety.

Included in the topics discussed was how to call 911 for help, what to do in case of a fire and home fire safety. The children toured Engine 2 and saw equipment that is used by firefighters . The Lucas Fire Department, in cooperation with the Lovejoy ISD has always worked to educate children in the Lucas area about fire safety.

In addition, Hart Elementary Kindergartners visited the fire station to learn about fire safety and what firefighters do.

The students observed a firefighter dress in his gear and air pack. They then shook his hand and felt and examined his gear.

The children then went through the station and saw all of the vehicles used by the department.

Students sprayed water through the "Lucas House Of Fire" to simulate fighting a house fire and each received 911 materials for their efforts.
