Lucas Fire Rescue

Apparatus

Lucas Fire Rescue covers a 24 square mile area in Collin County with a population of 4000 north of Dallas, Texas.


Engine 1 (Ole Streaker)

This is the apparatus that started our department in June of 1974. A General (Detroit) on an open cab 1949 Ford with a 500-gpm pump and a 500-gallon tank.

It was an active fire suppression apparatus until 1991 when it was retired to a parade vehicle. Now one of its most important functions is to provide Santa with a platform to greet all the Lucas area children at Christmas time.

Engine 2

A 1996 Spartan General 6 man cab powered by a 320 HP Cummins diesel with 1250 gpm Waterous/FoamPro 2000 Class A foam and a 750 gallon tank.

An 8KW AMP hydraulic generator provides power for lights and other electrical equipment.

It is equipped with a Hamaltro Rescue Spreader, Ram and Cutters plus 3 air bags.

Attack lines are two 200 foot 1 3/4" cross lays, a 100 foot 1 3/4" bumper line and 300 feet of 3" supply line pre-connected to a water thief that feeds two 150 foot 1 3/4" spaghetti lines. There is 1000 feet of 5" supply line. A 100 foot 2 1/2" hose with a smooth bore nozzle is kept as a hose pack to add to the water thief configuration as required. All fog nozzles are Elkhart automatics.

Engine 3

A 2004 Spartan Gladiator General 6 man cab powered by a 435 hp Detroit series 60 diesel with 1250 gpm Hale/FoamPro 2000 Class A foam and a 750 gallon tank.

An 8KW Onan hydraulic generator provides power for lights and other electrical equipment.

Engine 3 is equipped with a Hamaltro Rescue Spreader, Ram and Cutters.

The attack lines are two 150 foot 1 3/4" cross lays, a 150 foot 1 3/4" bumper line and 600 feet of 3" supply line preconnected to a water thief that feeds two 150 foot 1 3/4" spaghetti lines. In addition, there is 1000 feet of 5" supply line. Also, 100 feet of 2 1/2" hose with a smooth bore nozzle is kept as a hose pack to add to the water thief configuration as required. All fog nozzles are Elkhart automatics.


Booster 1

A 1993 Becker on a Ford F350 diesel chassis with a 490 gpm Nissan Hale pump/class A foam and a 200-gallon water tank. Booster 1 carries tools, SCBAs and two 1 3/4" cross lays with 400 feet of 3-inch supply. A 3KW Honda-generator with demountable lighting and first responder EMS support is on board.

A 2011 Freightliner 4 wheel drive chassis with a 5 passenger cab and a Weis custom bed. This truck is configured as a grass/brush truck with 2 hose reels, 2 bumber sweeps, a bumper mounted monitor and CAFS


Squad 1

A 2002 full size Ford F250 quad cab diesel. This unit carries hand tools and 4 SCBA packs. First responder EMS support is on board. The unit has the capability of inspection and code enforcement support.


Squad 2

A 2008 full size Ford F250 quad cab diesel. This unit carries hand tools and 4 SCBA packs. First responder EMS support is on board. The unit has the capability of inspection and code enforcement support.


Ops 3

A 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. This unit is configured as an incident command vehicle.


Utility 1

A 2010 Ranger 6x6. This unit is configured as an off-road rescue and transport vehicle.
